I have a 2000 ISB with an automatic. Last winter here in Massachusetts the weather got quite cold, and they calling for another bad one. On two or three occasions my dealer attempted to program the high idle TSB into the vechicle with no luck. I was wondering if anyone out there has hooked up their own high idle. I would like something electronic (push button on /off) if possible.

Genos sells a "third hand" setup for cheap, but if you want the push button, follow this link:

high idle

I haven't tried it, but was thinking of getting it to add to my remote start.

One problem they have had with the high idle flash is the battery temp sensor. My high idle has always worked (gotta love the 3-cylinder cut-out at 6:00 am at an apartment:D ), so I am just going by what others have said.

:p Do these trucks we have, have a high idle program?

If they do dose it work and is it worth wild getting the program put in the truck? What is the name of the program you need to tell the dealer that you want the high idle activated?

This would be good for me because I use my truck in the fire department a lot and I hate to leave it idle as much as it dose some times.

Thanks.

Mike. Oo. :D Oo.

It might be worth checking into this model as well. I know a few people who are happy with theirs and it is less expensive than the Fast Idle Kit.

One thing to remember, even if they do the cold weather flash(high idel) they have to be sure to go back in the program and turn it on. The default is off, even after they install it.

What he said. The tech has to turn it on.

I will second the comment about it having to be turned on. If they don't disconnect the scan tool after doing the flash and then go back to turn it on, it won't work.

The funny thing is if they look at it after doing the flash, it will say that it is turned on.

Hope this helps.

My High Idler works in all temps, doesn't require a trip to the dealer, and costs almost nothing.

Just another option. ;)

That's what I do. I put my ice scraper between my power seat and the pedal. The power seat allows me to adjust the RPM. :)

I do have the high idle TSB as well, and it works great.

I just use the stick when I park for a few minutes and leave it running.

with that picture there, you can tell who's from down south. axe handle?? just kidding. i seen that and had to say something about it. i'm with duluth on the ice scraper deal works good, cheap, and can be fine tuned with the power seat. Oo.

Out in the garage a while back I came upon a "L" bracket, a straight splice bracket, few bolts and washers, a "ball" type chain and sometype of a clip that you slide on metal to fasten two pieces together. Decided to make a "fast idle" out of these. Went to the hardware and bought a couple of locking nuts for $. 09 and was in business. Thought some of you might want to see the results. If things work out, there should be a picture in this reply.

Well... .

That's different.

How do you set that?

damar - interesting of how you this is done, although one thing kind of sticks in my mind... if that is right above the go pedal and you happen to get in an accident without the seatbelt on, you shin or knee would be right into it, and it looks pretty sharp to me. Just wanted to point this out in case you haven't thought about it.

SCHU77, good point. It is actually slightly to the right of the pedal. Has never interfered with driving no matter what boots I might wear. I ALWAYS drive with seat belt on, had a bad accident in 1966 where seat belts saved our lives. I've had this in place for many months. Tried the adjustable metal device that is made to go between the seat and pedal but didn't like it, coundn't control idle speed too good with it. I used a thin washer between the two pieces to make it more easy to move yet provide enough tension to stay where you want it. Your lower leg is the only thing that you could ever get into it, way to low for your knee, unless like you said, without seat belt.
