Does your rpm "flare" inbetween shifts on 6spd?

Ijust bought my '03 and I am wondering if it has the high idle/3 cyl. mode in it like my '01 had. It is starting to get cold here and it might be important.

I have an 03' CTD, and have not seen the high idle mode. I have seen this feature on my School Bus, however. It is just a "rocker" switch on the dash, and will increase the Idle to about 1200 RPM when engaged. The engine in my Bus is the CTD 5. 9 24V with allison 5-speed transmission.

The 03's have a high idle below a certain temperature yes. Since when did the 01's have a high idle, 03's were the first that I know of... .

The o1 trucks had it stored in the ecm, but it had to be activated by a dealer. Even after they activated it, they had to go back in the computer and actually turn it on.

Our trucks have the high idle in cold weather enabled from the factory (mine does), but they don't have the 3 cylinder function enabled.

As long as the outside temps are below 32F, coolant temp below 140F, in park/nuetral, no throttle, no ground speed, the engine idle speed will increase to 1200 rpm after two minutes. Like clockwork.

Last winter I noticed that when it was around 10F or so, the engine would immediately go to the 1200 rpm idle at startup. I only remember the immediate fast idle when it wasn't plugged in. It would do the two minute delay high idle even when it was plugged in.

Don't have any experience with the 3 cylinder function.
