What does a high idle feature have to do with the truck starting in gear on its own with a high idle enabled?

I'm not sure Statelines method is too safe. Without the clutch switch, if you have the high idle on and you start driving away, the RPM will stay at the set speed. If you have ever seen a CTD start in gear and smash into a technicians tool box, it is not pretty. And that is at curb idle. I would not want to try and stop a truck at 1500 RPM!

people are dumb enought to start off at 1500rpm, prior to presseing hte break and dropping RPM's.

Isn't there already a micro-switch on the clutch???

Will this work for our "really-old" trucks ('03)?

Thats what I would like to know, BTW - I checked and looks like around $200 (cost) - so I bet you can get most dealers down a bit from the 300 mark

But install charges I bet can get a little high, BTW - part# says from 2005-2007

Just want to make sure I understand this feature correctly... . :)

It allows one to set the idle up to 1500 rpm AND have the exhaust brake closed?

Is it temperature dependent like the 32 deg 1000 rpm automatic high idle?

Has anybody with a 2005 tried this kit yet? I expect to be going back to my dealer tomorrow for a U joint replacement (at 18,800 miles), and I'm going to hit up the parts department for one of these kits, and a cold weather front. Hopefully after they'll be able to figure out how to make this thing work, because I'm very tired of not having high idle.

Tried doing this per instructions of the guy from "dieseltruckresource.com" (look up for the link).

I can't seem to find the pin that goes in the wire harness. The ones from Checker and Autozone are just a bit too big.

Anyone have a part number or suggestion?

I like the idea of using the parking brake switch. Put parking brake on and High idle feature is available. Suprised DC did not think of that.

Also I read that the dealers have a box of wiring pins for "harness repair" work.

I'm going to try this sometime this week.

Curious tho, doesn't the truck know if you have the parking break set via the ECU? Next time the truck goes into it's own automated high idle I'll just un-do the parking break and see if it idles back down to 750rpm. or just not "set" the parking break. .

I figure this should be enough to get thing's "tripped". Maybe apply my own switch there on the parking break.

Now, when they say "ground". just bolt that tire right to anything metal and call it done huh? no resistors or anything?

the parking brake doesn't need to be in for the high idle to kick in... a few weeks back i got caught by a yard set moving a cut of boxcars in my railyard so i sat there in neutral no service brakes applied no parking brake applied and it went into high idle on its own... so that one is out for now...

yeah, I did notice it happen a few times.

I was more so refering to the fact that if you do have the parking break set, you should beable to use hte cruse control switch to manually increase idle like an auto would in park.

Yeah, I'm interested too! Sheez, it got down to 51 degrees last night here in Southern California. I heard on the radio that if it got to 49, then the freeways and schools would have been closed.

We really need those high idle options out here as well.

Oh my god, 51 degrees!!!! This is what a cummins looks like at -40 WITHOUT being plugged in!! Yes they will start.

You can now get high idle feature to work on 06 manual trans trucks. You need to get switch kit Cummins PN 4089851 or Mopar 5175417AA before it will work.

Just called to get prices

Dealer 5175417AA = $309. 00

Cummins 4089851 = $98. 29 - 10% powermasters discount

How in the "heck" can Dodge charge that much? There crazy!

Dodge/ Mopar are proud of their stuff. I priced the Jacobs e-brake at Cummins for around $800. 00 and at Dodge $1200-$1300. One difference is if you buy at Cummins you will be out of luck on warranty even though it is the same part.

I have the adjustable pedals, before i run out and order this switch, does anybody know if its different for the adjustable pedals?
