Fuel Mileage Experiment

Good article on the G56.

Use of the Cab Heater Option where down time is required without running engine is highly recommended, saves fuel, reduces regen cycles. Keeps engine block warm and cab cozy, can also be set to come on at preset times.

charge for high idle?

My dealer wants to charge me $50 to activate the high idle on my truck. I told him no thanks. Do thay all charge for it?

After buying a $40k plus truck, charging $50 for what literally takes less than 5 minutes is a load of bull pucky. I would suggest you talk to your salesman who can take it to the manager.

Things like that are what set apart the good dealers from the crappy ones. #@$%!

Rant off Oo.

The dealer is doing the recall reflash, anyway, so hopefully they'll take care of it. I didn't think to talk to my salesman.

Did my own with my old Bullydog from my 05! Let me do other things also like turning off the seat belt chim and the fog lamp staying on with the high beams!!

Cab Heater

It is a Mopar (Wabasco) option. It is a cab and block recirculating heater.

One point, the desired fan speed and temperature setting must be set while the truck is running first. then it is a matter of either setting the timer to activate the cab heater or manually turning it on for those time when you pull over for a nap. When you are in church and it is minus 40 outside.

Works well, runs on diesel fuel, of course and works very well in keeping the cab warm as well as the block warm.

There are those who say it is loud (jealous IMO), but on the inside of the cab the only noise is the cab AC/Heater fan motor.

Called my Service Manager at Cornett Chrysler in Irvine today regarding the manual high idle... ... he said bring it on down !

He got it enabled... ... . all that's required is truck in park, turn the cruise control on, and hit the SET button... ... voila, shoots up from 700 rpm to 1,100 rpm. From there, simply tap the resume/accel button and it increases it in what appears to be 50 rpm increments, all the way up to a max of 1,500 rpm. Use of the decel feature reduces it in 50 rpm increments. :D

Manual high idle, in combination with the exhaust brake, should make for some quick warm-up times this winter, even though I'll have mine plugged up alot as kwh's are cheaper than #2.

I looked at an 08 and asked if we could turn the High Idle on... and could not find it? Can someone show me where or how to get to it with the STARSCAN?

Does anyone know how much Dishman charges to enable the high idle? I found out I will be in Spokane just a few blocks from them tomorrow and was thinking about stopping in and having them enable the high idle on my truck.
