Well, after a long battle with the service department (Moss Bros. ) in San Bernadino, Ca. last winter, I had come to the realization that the only "High Idle" system that was going to work in the Limo is to continue the use of a custom device made by Titleist; Pn. 975D 8. 5deg with a custom H/Pm Composite shaft 67grams 1. 7 deg torque 44" finished length 1/2" tip trim and 1/32"undersized grip. Yup, I just grab the Driver out of my golf bag and stick it into the back of the seat and on the go pedal, then just bump up the power seat 'till the RPM's read 1200:)

I had all but given up, but, winters here in Maine are a little harsher than the 20-32 deg. "cold" days in the SanBernadino Mountains :-laf

Yesterday I took my truck to Lee Dodge at Lee Auto mall and explained it all over again to Jeff Allen my Service Rep. Who explained it to his Tech. of 20+years (who really is'nt a "believer"). But in keeping with the 5 star spirit, managed to atleast investigate. Long story shortened a bit. . . . This AM, 16 degrees outside, 73 seconds of idle, followed by a smooth ramp up to 1250 RPM

Oo. :D JALAPEN~A One or two degrees colder and I am sure it would have shut three cylinders down. So much for "a California emissions equipped H. O. 6 speed" isn't compatable with this programming so it isn't available crap. WOOHOO! So MOSS BROS. Stick that in your tail pipe and SMOKE IT! And you owe me 75 Bucks!

I've had nothing but good experiences at Moss Bros. Maybe I should pick up the flag where you dropped it with them. Are you sure you got your truck cold enough around here to even trigger the high idle/ cylinder shut down?

good too see you got that fixed. i still have to fix mine, except that it's manual:rolleyes: hey, did you get any blue smoke this morning? i'm starting to see it a lot lately... timing issue maybe?

Slavallee, up on the mountain it certainlee gets cold enough to bury the truck under 3 feet of snow. So, I would have to believe I should get the High Idle;) Moss has treated me well, it's just when they get it in their heads that something can't be done. . . well, they get lazy real fast! Instead of, after being told by STAR that it will work, they just assumed it wouldn't work on mine, stating, Ca. emissions or six speed, Star misunderstood us,etc. etc. instead of calling them back and getting to the bottom of the problem. Their big lazy butts became the problem. They act like they lose their 5 star rating if they call the STAR people more than once a week and NEVER for the same problem!

98, I get a little Blue smoke every cold morning. After awhile it turns a little greyish then when the engine is warm, it is clean as a whistle. There shouldn't be a problem with yours being a manual. Mine has six gears and it works just fine. Kinda' cool actually:cool: I think yours just needs the software update. The number is on the TSB. I'm working in Portland next Mon. and Tuesday. Let's meet for lunch.

i have an auto (see the truck profile). my bad- i had a manual throttle cable, but i snapped it. a piece of the drumset has been working good, but it's a pain. looks like i'll have to go to napa and get a real throttle cable over this crappy thing i bought a long time ago. oh well. you have mail.

7 Degrees this morning. Slowly the idle eased up, gently, gently, gently 1250 rpm. purring like a kitten. Whisps of diesel smoke lapping at the frosty morning air. . . . RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE! HOLY CRAP! IT'S GONNA BLOW! I managed to regain my composure as I realized, our baby boy Jake the Limo, had his first 3 cylinder Idle. Oo. :p :-laf

I had my high idle feature enabled last weekand it took a bit of gentle prodding and showing them where to find it. Then they had to call STAR as they were afraid since it was not listed under the HO engine option. Star OK'd, I payed my $35 for the labor and this morning it worked.

Now I am waiting for my new lift pump to fail, it is showing 0 PSI more and more. Of course it must be 0 when I go there to have them look at it. Less than 30K miles on this one.

Videotape it. Or MPEG it. I did. Although I hardly needed to. My dealer took my word that the lift pump was failing and was grossly out of spec. Fixed it, no questions asked. Have I said lately that I have an AWESOME dealership?!

You can use mine if you'd like, but I don't know if you have gauges like mine. If there is any question at all on the accuracy of my gauges, I calibrated them here at work using a dead weight tester traceable to a national standard (read overkill). :D
