Anyone else have this? Mine does it automatically in colder temps. Start it, don't touch the pedal, and it jumps to 1000 rpm til the pedal is moved. Sweet :)

They do that when temps are low enough. You can also set the high idle manually, with an automatic..... when at idle, turn the cruise control on, hit the set button and it will jump to 1050 rpm. you can also increase the high idle to 1500 my pressing the accelerate button. You have to be in park, and it cancels once the brake in hit, just like normal cruise control.

Wait until you start it when its below around 20 deg. If its like my 02 was you will swair the engine is blowing up. It will start dropping every other cyl fire. Makes a lot of racket in the 2gen trucks.

I don't know if it will drop cylinders. My 99 didn't but it didn't get that cold here very often.

So since I have a manual the cruise-control high-idle won't work due to the clutch switch or something like that, right?

NPloysa.

You can make it work. All you have to do is remove the ECM B plug, push out the rubber plug in pin 22 (2nd row from the left, 3 down, looking from the back) Push in a new 18 gauge -10" piece of wire with the correct pin for the connector crimped on from the back side until it clicks, re-install the ECM B plug back into the socket, and ground the new wire you put into pin 22 onto the ground connector on the right side of the ECM. Works like a dream.

Ok that just went way over my head, haha. I see what you mean but I have never even looked inside the ECM. But I may have to try it!
