Hi folks,

I haven't been on in a while, but I have a problem with my 90. I was towing the other day (light load) and as I crested a hill and let off, the rpm stayed higher than normal. As I pulled up to the next red light, the truck was idling noticably higher, and remained at a high idle state til I got home (guessing around 1400 rpm. I left it running and popped the hood. The injector pump was leaking out the rear of it in steady drips, somewhere near the electrical connection on the rear of the pump. Is this a sign of needing a rebuild, or is it something simple?

Thanks!

Jim

The idle is controlled by mechanical throttle position. Check your idle screw and make sure it has not walked out. If not then you have an internal problem.

The leak could a number of things but likely you need to pull the pump and reseal it.

cerberusiam,

I'll check it tonight to see on the idle screw. All these years it has been untouched, so I fear it hasn't backed off, but has an internal problem, but we'll see.

Paychk,

If you are talking about a throttle lock for high idle, then my truck does not have one.

THANKS!
