well? do you think just letting my exhaust brake do its job for a couple min or do you think the high idle feature would work better?

one saves a bit of fuel and is already paid for...

the other requres more money and work...

You already have the brake. Enable your high idle and go for it. It is a completely different truck for warm up using the high idle and the e-brake. When it is cold enough the auto high idle works great too. When I park my truck I turn on the e-brake, then when I use the remote start I get high idle (if cold enough) and exhaust brake.

I would say the exhaust brake would work. It should already high idle itself if its cold enough and all the conditions are met.

ehh, you guys are right, it should high idle on its own for a bit, but im talking about high idle via cruise... .

will it high idle and thing its still ideling(with the cruise setup, or with the "dang truck, its cold out, idle faster") letting the exhaust brake be on?

I certainly will do that uo to 1100 rpm's (mine anyway). If I notch up the rpm higher than 1100 with the cruise button the jake turns off.

Both work great. Although it only drops down to the high 40's - low 50's here, high idle with the exhaust brake brings the engine up to operating temp in no time.

yeah, it has hit low 40's to low 30's so far here... im new to this area... NOT a snow guy at all... matter of fact, i have to buy another winter beater so i can drive in the snow as my 2wd cummins does NOT like wet roads let alone icy roads...

anyway, i still want to drive it once or twice a week when the roads are nice. just bought a block heater cord, and got it put on, am in the process of wiring in some new switches in the apartment. . hope they dont mind.

i still want the high idle for when im at work though. talked to a dealer today who is cool with me having mods so long as i dont try to bring it in for something i caused. not like the cali dealers who will void my warenty in to time flat...
