High idle / rapid acceleration

I have 27,000 miles on my 03 3500 dually. It's currently at the dealer for a u-joint that has failed. Won't have it ready till next week, but that’s a separate story. I noticed last winter that after 30 minutes of driving in the cold weather, sometimes the engine would be a high idle. Then if you started from a stop with your foot off the accelerator, the truck would take off as if you floored the accelerator. I asked the dealer to fix this problem, but they could not find anything. Anyone else have this problem that could give me some data to pass onto the dealer while they still have my truck?

That's a tough one. I'd ask for the latest reflash... sounds like a programming bug.

There was a thread a couple of months ago where someone was having this problem.



As I recall, it happened when he started off at an idle, then gave the truck a little throttle after engaging the clutch.

Thanks for your info. I did some checking myself this weekend. I found there is a recall that sounds like it could remedy this problem.
