I want to get the high idle function through the cruise control enabled on my 2006 4X4. I contacted a dealer and they quoted me $135 "if it was possible". What should I ask for and what answer should I expect to hear to make sure I get what I need? Is $135 reasonable?

Thanks!

I thought it was possible to enable it thru a Smarty or similar programmer. . if so, Id buy that... never know when a code scanner and a few extra hp and MPG would come in handy...

They should do it at no charge, because it is an option for the truck that you payed for... . But the dealer still wants to charge... . they quoted me 80$ what a rip off. . it takes 2 min to do... . but I got hooked up here in vegas so it was free..... If you push the subject with them, they might do it for free..... Its like buying new tires, but then they want to charge you for the air... . :-laf

I've answered this question many times over the years and sometimes forget that the dealer can't simply activate it if the truck is manual transmission. If its a 48RE automatic all the dealer has to do is plug into the connector under your dash, right side of steering column, scan through the features, and click on the correct "button. "

If your truck is manual G-56, read other active threads.

Yes, 48RE. I will drive over and talk directly with the service manager.

Thanks!

If you bought the truck from them or have it serviced by that dealer they should activate your fast idle feature at no charge. It shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour shop labor time to activate if they charge you.

I had mine in the shop for some work. They ran it out, and parked it on the street. The tech asked if I wanted the high idle enabled. I said yes. he got his tool, and I do not think it took 3 minutes to do it. Plugged in, punched a couple buttons, and unplugged it.

Did mine with my oil change. . no charge for that. . I get coupons for $42 oil change. . bargain at that price. very cool to rev it up. . I can hear the turbo spinning with the jake and last night it warmed up very quickly
