Picked up my '06 today. The reason I'm posting here is I also sold my '01 today. With 208,220 miles on the odometer the truck still had the original VP44 on it-still going strong-no codes or any other signs of giving out. In fact, the only major problem I had since I drove it home from the dealership in Aprl of 2001 was a worn blocker ring on the third gear syncro that I had replaced at 181,000 miles. Well, actually, there was that head gasket thing, but that was my fault :) .

Hey good for you. I see you even had a comp hooked up. I'm curious about what lift pump, and fuel pressure you were running. .

Hope you have the same luck with the '06! Nice trucks for sure.

Congrats on the new ride ... bet you will miss the 01 though ... well sort of.

I think the VP44 issue is a real hit and miss . . I also know guys that have 200K+ on their trucks, most of them still bone stock and lucky to have the oil changed every 12 months let alone any other preventative maintenance ... then I know others that use the best of everything and pamper their trucks and don't make it past 50K before having VP44 probs (like Gary!) ... luck of the draw I guess.

Have fun with your new ride :)

I do miss my '01. It's kinda wierd, like loosing the family dog or something. Berfore this, I've never owned a vehicle for more than 3 years or been behind the windshield for more than 60,000 miles-not to mention all the time under the hood and under the truck getting it just the way I like it. I was seeing 15 psi at idle and cruising. I couldn't pull it down past 10 psi full throttle with the Comp on 5x5. I had the lift pump down by the tank with straight through Weber fittings in place of the banjos and a stanadyne water separator/pre-filter. I used conditioner at every fill-up (Lucas or Howes) and changed the lift pump any time I saw a fluctuation in pressure or heard anything less than a steady hum from the pump. All told, I put 3 lift pumps on it.
