I'm a 2nd generation man, and a freind of mines kid has down a transplant

and everything went good but he's got 75 psi , hot or cold.

They checked the electrical against a mechanical and got the same readings.

Thought I'd ask the guys that would know, anything come to mind?:)

75psi isnt uncommon, esp when cold- my 91 did that; dropped to 60 or so when warmed up. I thought the B series had a pressure cutout for 65psi, though???

The Cummins B has an pre-filter by-pass that opens at 65 psi if the filter becomes plugged or can't pass cold oil. It is not made to keep the oil pressure from going over 65 psi and it has a + or - 10 psi by the manual.

I had a new 99 12V marine engine in a boat. It had enough over 80 psi to break a sending unit (internally, it never leaked).

I had to get a 0 to 100 psi gage and sender. I would see a little over 80 when cold, then she would settle down to 55 once it got warmed up. Would drop to 35 at idle when hot.

All that was within spec.
