Last weekend I was running uphill on I-17 between Flagstaff & Phoenix and I was watching my Oil Temp gauge hit the 210+ range.

I wasn't hauling anything and I didn't have a headwind. My sensor is located above my oil filter.

Do these #'s sound high to you guys? From what I've heard from other people, they are way to high esp. for an unloaded truck.

I am going to assume your probe is in the plug on the top of the oil filter housing.

Cummins said to keep it below 220 if possible. I have seen 215 when pulling very hard for a long time. or pulling a long hill. Your temps seem kinda high for running empty. Were you running more the 20 psi boost and for a longtime?

My boost wasn't near 20 for any amount of time. It was more like 15ish for about 1-2min per hill.
