I am pretty set on buying a 2000 3500 H/O in the following weeks. I have the one picked out already. Only mods are a TST Powermax 3, K&N, and 4" exhaust. The truck has under 70kmi. Is there anything that I should look out for with the truck, or any problems with the first run of the H/O and six speed? Thanks, JOE

00 H.O.

You MUST check the fuel pressure. Our gen of trucks have had a lot of lift pump problems. As long as you monitor the pressure you'll be ok. Also check the casting # to make sure it's NOT a #53 the # is under injection pump on bottom of side of engine. Goodluck Eric

If it's a 2000 it is not an HO. HO's came out in 2001. The 6 speed first came out in 2000 on the ETC's. The 2000 6 speeds have the smaller shafts but no big deal. I am sure the bombed ETC is putting out as much or more power than a bombed ETH. Only concerns I would have are clutch related with that level of bombing does it have the OEM clutch still working? Also I am sure you know that with these bombs there is no warranty on this truck. Good luck.

hmm, well he said it was one of the rare 2000 H/O... is it possible that it was an early preduction? As far as the clutch, its original. He said it will slip if he is on the max setting and hogging on it, but other than that its fine. The truck has 3. 54 and a GV unit too. Also, it has a carter pusher pump, so fuel pressure shouldn't be too big a concern, correct? A little more specifically, where and how could i tell if it has a #53 block?

I just shot the owner an E-mail to see if it has a #53 block (hope not!), and to clear up the high output deal. What are the differences between the S/O and H/O? I know there are no formal markings. Thanks again, JOE

2001 HO

Yes I agree I ordered 2-00and recevied it in April 17th 2000. They had to put the year forward to meet demand because the made all that they were allowed in year 2000. Eric

So, for the record, there are a limited number of 2000 High outputs in existance?... and the ways to tell if it is one are... ?

It sounds like you're not buying this from a dealership.

Some early six speeds had the HO engine and some had the SO engine.

Also the HO had a higher compression ratio then the SO's.

Make sure the truck has a warrenty.

Now, does it even matter if its got the H/O or not? Regardless I am sure with the TST Pwrmx 3, 4" exhaust, and some other little add ons it is well over the H/O mark. I mean, at least it will have the NV5600. Opinions?
