I have searched the forums and can't find what I am looking for, what is the difference between my 2003 Diesel and the 2003 Diesel HO. Is there a spec sheet that I can view?

SO was 245/460 (I think) and the HO was 305/555 except Cali which was 235/440 (I think).

Aside from power, the early early SO's did not have the newer gallery cooling that was incorporated into everything in the later engines. If the info was correct there are some engines in the early 03 builds that are have the 24V internals in the CR block. By 11-02 those should have been gone and a standard bottom end implemented.

That help? :)

Since you have the 48re you have the HO Cummins. Look at the engine tag and it should tell you that you have the 305hp and 555tg.

Not so, the HO's only got the 48RE but the SO's got 47RE until about 01-03 then they got the 48RE also.

I replaced the 47RE with the current 48RE. I am not disappointed with the truck (bully dog helps out along with shift kit). I was curious if the block components were the same or is the HO version different mechanically<O:p</O:p

SO you do have an SO motor.

If your build date is later 09-02 the SO engine should have the same internals as the HO. There may differences in piston bowl design and injector spray pattern but the power differences should be all programming.

So claims MADS. ;)

I also own a SO 250hp with a 48re from factory. There are piston and injector differences and there are no piston cooling nozles in the SO. I think Joe Donnely did a major component comparisos several TDR issues ago. I have a friend who owns a SO 235hp that was sold in NY His truck averages 17. 4 mpg mine averages 14. 8 mpg
