Last night my truck started missing at high rpms (over 2500). It doesn't do it every time but when it does it misses, sputters, and blows blue/white smoke. It feels like it is not getting enough fuel. This morning I changed the fuel filter which helped a little but didn't fix the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Will

When mine did that, the lift pump crapped out a couple of days later. It ran very well intermittently, and then died completely.

Time to check your fuel pressure.

I checked the overflow valve and the spring was between 7/16 & 1/2 long so I don't think that is the problem.

I don't have a fuel pressure gauge so I'll order one and check that.

Timing has crossed my mind too, but it doesn't start any harder or different. Now that it is getting cold when I start it in the morning (not plugged in) it has a little white smoke at idle, but it doesn't seem to be any more than I have had in the past.

Thanks for the replys.

Cold

Just cold? Mine does it all the time when cold and I rev it over 2000 RPM. It is probably the fuel quality combined with cold temps. Plug it in, does it do the same? I wouldn't worry, just the nature of the beast. I can smoke out the entire town if I do not plug in, or give it time to warm up at temps below freezing. As long as it clears up after it warms, all is OK. :D
