higher wattage backlighting for Dipricol EGT gauge?

My gauges are great, but backlighting on EGT is way too low. Anyone found a higher wattage lamp for it?

not sure about that but i am having trouble to with getting my lights to work on all of mine, tried 2 times on different light power switched sources, i am starting to wonder what the deal is. any ideas ? were did you tap in.

if you have the di-pricol pyro gauge that looks like the factory gauges, i figured out how to wire it on mine. it has 2 individual and removeable lights, plus an internal lamp(s). i ended up wiring all the lamps together in parallel and put them on the dash light dimmer circuit.

their initial wiring instructions say otherwise and i did it their way initially but didnt like it. mine balances well now with the boost and fuel pressure guage lights. all gauge lights go up and down together.

ps.

i have mine down in the autometer cubby mount.

Pull out the small panel where the headlight switch is, by prying the panel out with a very small screwdriver or a dull knife blade, then look for a wire that is Orange/White tracer. This is where I connected mine.

That's what I did, too. The night lighting isn't as good as the boost gage, but still it's OK. I see what jsimpson is saying, though. A little less light on the face and more backlighting would be better. Or maybe the DiPricol gage face is too thim?

Are there 2 lights or 3 in the EGT gauge? I thought it was just 2... well, 2 wires anyway. One that runs off the main plug and then one that runs off the "light" wire. Either way I hooked both of those up and think it is TOO bright as compared to the other gauges and seems to wash out at night. I was actually thinking of disconnecting one of the light sources to see if there was an improvement. Any thoughts from those that have played around with the lighting on these gauges?

The reason the instructions say otherwise is because the internal lamp is an LED. With an LED, you must respect polarity, AND LED's don't like dimmer switches!

I guess the first step is to check the lamps that came with the gauge and see if they actually are working! One or more could be burned out when I got them!

I don't think that you would want to go to a higher wattage. Reason is if you have ever felt the bottom of your gauge pod of the e. g. t. gauge you would be very surprised how hot it gets and that it does'nt melt with the bulb it already has.

I was told that the LED lights the pointer. But on my gauge, the LED lights the red zone on the dial. NOTHING lights the pointer - I cant see the pointer at night!
