Yes, its a big deal. Take a look at my reader rigs and you will see what I mean. The last pic is of my number 5 and 6 cylinders. #6 is gone! Don't let it stay that hot for very long or yours will look the same. Alluminum starts to melt at 1250. Alloy is a little hotter. Watch those EGT's!

Hey guys, I just modded my truck pretty good and my EGT's got up to 1450+. Should I be concerned or no Big Deal?

first of all, where is the pyro probe installed, and anyway, you dont want to hold more than 1300 for long periods of time, i have held 1800 plus for about 15-20 seconds with no problems yet, but i am sure they will show up sooner or later, with my twins, i now peak at 1200 plus or minus 50, then settles to about 1100 in the manifold at #5, hopefully more people will chime in with your similar setup ;)

I have seen 1400+ SEVERAL times towing our 5er and have often wondered how long I should stay there. My sensor is pre-turbo. I also wonder if my 35 inch tires have an affect on my EGT's also? How long should one leave it pegged at these temps???

1450 is NOT a big deal in an '05. I can get mine stock to 1500 in NO time, unloaded, going up the mountain I live on, which is only about 1800 ft. An '05 is NOT comparible to a 2nd/early 3rd gen truck.
