Also be sure to use a 1 1/8" socket wrench(do not try to use square drive extension) to take the top off. When you get everything back together, just "bump" the starter to prime the filter. I do that a couple of times just to be sure it's primed. This is a whole lot better than your 95 was, very easy to do:D .

Ray, I wouldn't be so sure that at 4500 miles it is too soon to change it! there have been several threads, (including mine), that indicate you probably should:-{} . I do not know if either these filters trap muych smaller particles, or for some reason the 03/04's have a lot of debris left in the tank from manufacture:confused: I changed mine at 4 months and almost 8K miles and it was dirtier than the time I ignored mine on my 99 for a year!



the "good news" is it really only takes 5 min! use the socket wrench and replace the "O" ring!
 
I just replaced mine at 10,400 miles. It was BLACK! I even blew through it the oposite direction of flow and darn near busted a vein doing it. :)
