Pullrite Super 5th or Reese Signature?

Anyone have one of these? It is fairly new to the Hijacker line of 5th wheel hitches and operates differently (better) than their regular slider hitch. I was very impressed looking at it in person. I have been trying to decide between this hitch and the Pullrite 16K Superglide (Pullrite owners - You do not have to chime in on how this is the greatest hitch in the world). I have done extensive research on the Pullrite and know it is a good hitch and how it automatically slides, etc, etc.

When everything is said and done, it is $1000. 00 less money to go with the Hijacker Ultra slide (I'm talking hitch, installation, brake, plug wiring, etc, on either hitch). Additionally, I have the peace of mind that I can tow someone elses 5th wheel or they could tow mine if needed. With the Pullrite you cannot do this unless you remove the plate they mount on your kingpin or buy their adapter plate..... which is more $$$ and extra gear you have to carry... just in case.

Would really like to hear from those who have the Hijacker 16K Ultra Slide.

Go For It!

I'm kinda new to the fiver business, but I'm very happy with the Hijacker. :) In some ways it depends a bit on your trailer and the type of use you expect.

Some fifth wheels are more susceptible to hitting the cab than others. I think for general holiday use with a fairly new holiday trailer such as a Titanium or my Jazz, you really don't need the slide feature very often. I've talked to some that almost never use the slide feature on short boxes. I find that, even with my limited experience, I slide it back often, just because it is so darn easy with the "Ultra" set up.

I also found that by leaving it in the rear position, I can see the pin all the way into the hitch with my rear view mirror, one advantage I don't imagine you get with the automatic system.

I'm hoping to head over to BD and use the savings on helping pay for an exhaust brake. Oo.

Cheers

Craig.

I'm not sure if the "jaw" system on this 16k ultra slide is the same as the 21k slider that I have had on the truck I just traded in, but if it is stay away. I have put up with that hitch for 5yrs because I was too "tight" to do anything about it. The latching mechanism has to be greased up constantly to be able to unhook the thing. Even then I literally kept a sledge hammer in the bed of my truck to occasionally beat the hanldle open. The sliding part was never an issue since I had I long bed. I just bought a new truck (long bed) and I am deciding on the Pullrite 25. 5k and the Reese Signature 24k.

The Reese signature is different from the other Reese hitches as the jaw is one piece that closes from the drivers side, and wraps around the pin. The other Reese hitches use a two piece jaw that closes from both sides, with the seam in the middle.

A couple of posts ago I had wrote about the occasional near impossibility trying to get the bar slide back open. I would back up, sometimes leave weight on the hitch while attempting to open the slide bar, about anything I can think of. Usually I would have to use the "BMFH" to get it open.

There were plenty of occasions where I let my father in law take my loads home and he couldn't get the thing open. He would leave it for me to suffer with. He would also remind me of how well his Draw Tite 20k works, and I have used it myself and it is far easier to operate.

Robert,

Have you had it checked out by a Hijacker dealer? My dad, brother and both uncles have a Hijacker hitch that has the sliding bar and none of them have any problems. Sounds to me like something is wrong or you need some kind of adjustment on the hitch.

This may be, I bought the hitch from my uncle who is a race car trailer manufacturer not from a dealer. Until I seen this thread I didn't know that Hijacker was a "main stream" hitch, so I figured I was on my own. I tried to adjust the bolt on the front, but never got any improvement. Either way the hitch and truck it was attached to are a thing of the past.
