Well was just on my way home(4:45p) going 40ish MPH in 4th and out of nowhere started hearing a hissing sound from behind dash or concole area. The sound would stop when I pressed the brake pedal and it would almost stop when I turned the steering wheel(left or right). some more info on location/conditions,detroit,35degress,wet/lite rain mist. This is going to drive me nuts because like most of you all my truck is my work hard baby.

So any help would be great!!!

Thank,Gearjam'r

OK guys and gals I did some looking and I think it might be the hydro boost hose? going to the steering box. Not 100% but thats where it seams to becoming from.
Any other ideas what it could be let me know. Thanks

Hydraulic hose has separated internally. Had it happen on my 2010, it eventually went away. Had to wait a week for the dealer to get the part and had it replaced.

It is the hydroboost line going from hydroboost unit to pump. It is item #3 in the parts book on the P/s hose page

Well took RAMona to the dealer yesterday and of course they needed me to leave her "So we can check it out". Hopefully I'll have her back tomorrow. I'll let you all know what they find if its anything different but I highly doubt it. Thanks for the info.

When I dropped her off I told them what to check first(hydro boost hose).
Well I picked her up yesterday... It was the hose!
Thank goodness for the TDR forum and family. I tell anyone I meet that has a cummins about TDR.
It is the Bible for Dodge/Ram Cummins trucks!
Thank for everyone's help.

I live in Westland. What dealer did you use? I drive all the way out to Clinton to
O'Hara. Bought three from them. Crestwood is a mile away and still to out O,Hara.
Do most of the work myself except for warranty stuff.

Back to the power steering hose subject.. I had the noise back in July on my 2010 model (~40k miles) and pulled the plastic insert out of the high pressure line to the hydra-boost. Noise gone and all OK. But just recently I ran into an event where my brakes began self-applying while traveling on the highway. This symptom in the manuals points to either contaminated brake fluid or also a restriction in the booster return line. I didn't bother removing the plastic insert in the hose booster return hose, but this event has me thinking perhaps the pressure drop between the hoses may have caused this event.

Just curious to know if others have been removing the inserts as opposed to replacing the hose and whether any unusual events have occurred since. I'm not totally convinced on why they are there in the first place, however, I figure there must be a worth while reason as no company spends money for the hell of it. I would consider replacing the hoses altogether if it was still in warranty.
