I am a newbie at the 24 Valvers... I don't recall such a loud hissing when accelerating with my 12 Valve. :(

It sounds like a slit in my boot going into the intake side... or a hose that is relieving A LOT of pressure...

To make things worse... it stopped for a few days and then I could really here my turbo spool up :-laf - almost piercing and I loved it but now its gone...

Any takers or good guessing would be appreciated...

By the way - '99 4x4 QC LB Straight 3" exhaust - No ring - No boot - No idea why it hisses or why it stopped at one point...

Sounds like a boost leak... Well, hopefully it's in the boost side & not pre turbo... Should be easy enough to find with the help of a buddy in the cab.

Yep, sounds like a boost leak!

Check all your intercooler boots and tighten up all the clamps. Make sure none of the boots have slipped out from under a loose clamp!.

Well it looks as though the boot has slipped away from the Intercooler somewhat - so I will tighten that up and check other areas. I would imagine this is causing me to loose SOME HP due to not recovering part of the 33% energy recovery via the turbo boost... Ooohhhh - Not bad for a newbie huh  :D :D I'm probably wrong anyway ;) !! Ha ha...

Thanks for the advice... much appreciated!

Have you ever had a turbo diesel at all? Hoses would have been a good thing to check as soon as the suspect noise was discovered.
