Sent my 04 to the hospital :{ . Over $5000. 00 in damage.

Thinking about getting a good stout grille guard. Would like to get one that is stout, but doesn't stick out to far forward. If a person were to get one and hit a deer, is there a good chance that it would bend the frame anyway? :confused: Maybe there is no gain. Opinions please.

'Tis the season :{

I hit one 5:00AM on Friday morning. Fortunately he was a smallish buck (145lb) & I managed to slow down to about 35 mph before impact. No estimate yet but I'm guessing about $2k to $2500. 00 damage.

Been driving South Georgia roads for 20 years & this was the first deer strike for me. Avoided many, many so far, so I guess I can't really gripe too much :(

Bring on the Bucks!! I want to test my Buckstop out Oo. I don't have time to go hunt one down and they usually only find me when I'm in a car :( (at least it was a rental :p ) Hopefully theres enough left after the test for some steaks :-laf

be very careful about buying the cheaper ones. They are for looks only. You will wind up with $5000 damage + the munched up grill guard> :rolleyes: :eek:

Check my readers rigs pics for the Buckstop. I don't think it would give.

Yep, I'll bet that would have saved me some grief. However, even though it is a great looking bumper on your rig, it is quite a bit more bulk than I would like on mine. BTW , the gal in your readers rigs looks a lot like my niece. Your site will get a lot of hits in the near future :-laf :D

I wouldn't roll a pickup un protected. In fact people here in California think I'm nuts, and don't understatnd why my truck has a guard on the front, or what it's for. I actually get some idiots to ask me "Hey is that thing to Ram people with or off the road" :rolleyes: I really like the Ranchhand "Legend Series" But think that much armor up front without a 6" lift and a min of 37" tire, would not look right on my truck. I don't want a lift, and allready notice the front endof my CTD is a little lower due to the weight of the basic Ranchhand Grille guard. I think If I hit one, worst case it may scratch the plastic on the bumper, or dent the tin-foil oem bumper, but at least the Radiator, Intercooler, and A/C & Grille should fare well.

Heres mine. :)

Barbwire,

You get over into Montana much? If you do go see Twinkle Welding in Libby, He has been making these for about 10 years I think and only has had two come back for repair, one hit a large rock and the other a tree at about 55, then he replaced one panel in each and sent the customers on thier way. They will build whatever you want and at a price you can afford. Whitetail are abundent in MT and he tells me they get calls all the time of customers telling about the deer the hit and ZERO damage to the truck.

Mine is the deluxe model with all the options, but you get the picture. It weights about 225lbs, a little lighter if you go with another model, nothing a leveling kit or Kore suspension can't fix. :D

Just my . 02

I get out to Billings and Great Falls quite often. As a matter of fact, I was on my way back from Great Fall the other night , when the incident occured. Might be worth the extra miles to Libby to see what he could do for me. Thanx

Does that mean I'm not getting my presents this year? :-laf

Here's my Buckstop great addition!

Email if you have questions. It's on my 2003 2500 4x4 Quad cab Laramie Edition. I have 4 one week old 5100 Bilsteins for sale. $300 for all four. Put on a KORE System.

I hit deer recently. Less than $500 in damage. :D She put her head down right before I made contact, and I drove over the top of her. Grille, bumper and radiator. I think the radiator was a coincidence, though. Still need a REAL bumper. The stocker is still on. Wasn't bent to awful bad.
