I hit deer recently. Less than $500 in damage. :D She put her head down right before I made contact, and I drove over the top of her. Grille, bumper and radiator. I think the radiator was a coincidence, though. Still need a REAL bumper. The stocker is still on. Wasn't bent to awful bad.

When I first surveyed the damage on mine, I estimated $1200. Boy was I off. :--)

Boy, I guess. What all was damaged? All the coolers and some sheetmetal? Will your ins. cover it?

Oh, I forgot to add the right marker light was broke, too.

After market bumpers

Got mine from southtexasoutfitters.com in San Antonio and am really happy with them. I call my front one my '80 mph hit a deer and clean it off with a hose' bumper. . Pix in Reader's Rigs. .

Left front fender, left headlite assem. grille. all the coolers, power steering reservoir, bumper & skin. Unbelievable as it sounds, the radiator is still good, and the hood . I haven't a clue as to how the power steering res. got broke, and did not hurt the radiator. Earlier in the year, a deer had run out of the ditch and nailed the left passenger side rear door and did some damage to that as well. Having that fixed now also, which is part of the $5000.

Insurance will cover all but my $250. deductable. But I am sure that my rates will go up extensively, as you are aware of how ins. companies hate to lose any money  .

Has anyone has success asking their insurance company to pay for a Buckstop or other heavy duty bumper AFTER a deer collision instead of replacing the original bumper?

They are probably like the medical profession

Ouch. :( Not good. And what is with the deer running into the SIDE of vehicles? Seems the last 2yrs, there have been plenty of people posted those stories. Weird.

I know I was VERY lucky to not had more damage. Even the running board wasn't damaged, and I felt it roll around under the truck before the rear axle went over.

Pressure checked the CAC and it was OK. Did have a boot that was almost blown off (45# of boost will do that :-laf ) . Slid it back into place and retightened the clamp. One tube on the A/C condensor was slightly mushed, but no leaks. :) I have a $1k deduct. , so it was all out of pocket.

I ran into the back of a Toyota MRII at about 3 to 4 MPH and estimates were $3,000 and $3,400, I told the insurance company to pay me and I'd fix the truck. That's how I got the Road Armor.
