Hitch Extension

I am looking for a class V hitch to use with my camper. I need a 34" extension to pull a utility trailer or boat (all under 5k). I have looked at Reese, and am trying to get a price for a torquelift. I am also considering the Putnam Class V hitch, it seems to be the only one with a 2" receiver fitting which would save money buying new 2 1/2 fittings. Has anyone had experience using an extension on the putnam, and if so, where did you get it. thanks Glenn Oo.

I've towed 48" off the Torklift SuperHitch. No problem. Sold the 96'. Found a SuperHitch on Craigslist with extension for $400 that fit my 06'.

I love my Putnam XDR, but haven't seen extensions longer than 18" [also the longest I've used] for a 2" receiver. Believe it was only rated for 5k# and reduced capacity of the receiver by 1/3 [still more than the extension was rated for].



Looking at Reese 2 1/2" stuff... the hitchcorner site indicates:

I have a cabover camper that I use a 48" extension with the Reese Tow Beast Class V hitch. I pull a utility trailer of about 2500lbs. I considered trying to beef up my factory hitch etc but decided safety was paramount. Once you see the Reese alongside the factory hitch it is readily apparent the differences. I have no problems with the setup and when I want to use the regular 2" stuff, there is an adapter you buy that slips into the receiver so no additional costs for new pieces. It works great for the camper.



There's also a 41" extension.

On mine the label says: "trailer max weight w/wt. dist. 6000lbs/600lbs tongue

trailer max weight w/o dist 4000lbs/400lbs tongue.

Thanks to all, tried to get a price quote on a torquelift from 4 different places listed on their website..... those folks I talked to couldn't find their b*tt with both hands. Bought and installed a towbeast (easy to buy).
