Towing story with BIG fine involved

Funny stuck story

After being in an accident where my trailer was t-boned riping the front axle off and tweaking the frame as well as bending the weight distributing hitch, should I make the insurance company replace my receiver hitch? It does not look damaged at all but I don't want trouble with it later.

Sorry to hear about your accident.

I would get the receiver replaced. Unless you have it inspected you might not know it is really damaged until the next catastrophe. Again, better safe than sorry.

Tell your insurance company to have the frame inspected as this is a safety issue. There are "fixture" points (holes) that need to be inspected (measured) to assure nothing is bent.

I hope nobody was hurt.

These are shown in the service manual, you could check them yourself with the help of a friend if the ins co won't.
