re: looking for a class 5 hitch for the 3500.

My inquiry to Reese:

Dear Sirs:

I am inquiring as to the availability of a class 5 hitch for a 2003 Dodge

Ram 3500.

I have been told by my local Reese dealer that this product is not yet

available.

Can you confirm this and if true does Reese intend to manufacture one and

when might this product be available?

Thank you for your assistance.

Sincerely, J. Alan Wilson

Thank you for your inquiry, we do not have a hitch for your vehicle. Still

in design stage and no release date is available.

Sorry,

Kathy

I'm told that Draw Tite doesn't have one yet either. Any other sources?

I wish I'd seen this post earlier. I was just at Torklift earlier today. I was also there about two weeks ago and they were working on a 2003 CTD. I don't know what it was they were doing. They're great people.

The draw-tite web site lists a kit for the 2003 dodge, but I understand they are on back order, thank goodness I kept the old 97 so I can still use the 5er.

My Reese 5th wheel hitch is installed and tows our 5th wheel great. I used the same brackets I've used in the last three Dodge Cummins trucks. The 3500's require two rear brackets to clear the overload spring perches. The 2500's use the standard kit. Go the Reese's website and read all about it. Drawtite and Reese are the same animal by a different name.

I think the poster is refering to a class IV or V undercarriage receiver hitch. You can't drill or weld to the top or bottom of the new frame so they have to be attached to the sides of the frame like the factory hitch receiver is. The last hitch I bolted to a Chevy was the same way. It bolted to the sides of the frame using existing holes.

SteveM, correct, I'm looking for a Class V under carriage hitch. My boat trailer would require rather extensive modifications in order to use a 5th wheel.
