what hitch setup are most running for truck pulling and how well are they doing?I am building a 86 k30 with a 5. 9/nv5600 and plan to make a drawbar setup with the mount point at the front mount for the leaf springs and make adjustable links to the axle for three reasons one to force the axle down and two with the axle twisting with torque lift the drawbar to my advantage and the third to be able to adjust my hitch heights easily. Like a tractor,and push the load insted of pulling it. I have seen a lot of these type of hitches in gas truck pulling, but mount is usually at the center of the rear axle. just looking to see if anybody has tried this and to see if it lays down nice. I see a lot diesel trucks just running a reese type reciver moved foward a few inches.

Thanks Brian

Yeah you will find that alot of the diesel classes (even Super Street) I believe still requires a "Reese style" hitch. Like mentioned some of the "trick" hitches can give you a real advantage not to mention nice adjustablity.

I think you would be best to just go with a Reese style and move it inward if possible. Most of the rules say that the hitch must be the rear most part of the truck so that is also why you see guys taking off there bumpers or running a roll pan and there for being able to pull the hitch in closer to the axle. . which is also an advantage.

My class up here in Ontario is pretty much equal to Super Street in the DHRA but you can use any hitch setup. For me I am going with a Reese style so I can pull in the States!

Good luck... lets see some pics of the conversion????

Oh... if you don't have it all together... re-think the 6-speed!!! I put one in mine and wish now I would have just done the 5-speed (cheaper and better for getting high perf parts and one thing I just found out this week is if I want to go with a 3 or 4 disk clutch in the future... I have to swap in the 5-speed!!!) which sucks because then I also have to get new drive shafts :{
