My buddy has a 2004 auto and is in need of a new engine. We have found a pull out HO engine and was wondering if anyone new if he could run it. I guess what I am asking is will his original computer run it?

Thanks for the help!

Keep in mind that there we two HOs in 204. The 555/305 and the 600/325 in 2004. 5. The 600/325 uses a 4" turbo back exhaust system and a different ECM (I think).

You need to do research for that because there were three engines available the (04 SO) & (04 HO) with the the new 325/600 in the later part of 04. The ECM will be different from 04 HO & 04. 5 HO, if the engine is early 04 it will probably be OK, but the 04. 5 will have problems since the different positions of the Turbo and the program is for a different HPCR pump as well, and as mentioned the exhaust has a 4" down pipe.

find out if the engine that you are buying is and auto as well then engine wireing harness are different. my origional set up was a 250 so with a 47re when we changed it to a 6 speed. the harnesses were different because my truck had some kind of throtle control system under the intake horn and the other truck didn't so the front and rear engine wireing harness had to be changed. and now i am running the ho computer on my truck that was origionally a 250 so. if one of the engines were an 04. 5 i am not shore if it would work or not because the 04. 5 injectors are different and the computers are also. but it is all nuts and bolts i'm sure it could work if you have the parts.
