OK... All my friends have one, so now I'm itching to have my own CTD. Of course, if I wait until the 5. 9HO for CA arrives I will pretty much be king of the hill, in our future trailer pulls up those mountains :D

The only question is, will the HO(CA) be worth waiting for? I have not seen any specs on this engine version yet, but Im wondering if the EGR and Cat and any other necessary mods will rob most of the added HP? The current HO looks impressive though!

Also planning on running the new RE48 auto and 3. 73's with the HO.

If anyone has production dates or specs for the new engine or transmission, you could sure as heck make my decision to "wait or not wait" a lot easier.

Thanx!

*The future's so bright I gotta wear... *

got any friends or relatives in Nevada. . ? dual registration with them the second name on the registration. . that way you can get the 49 state one

BTDT with my old one [ 98. 5]

will cost ya for one year two registrations but you'll have the better rig... . second year don't re-register in NV... then go to DMV to remove other name

My plan was to buy an 03 HO in Nevada register with relative\friend for a year\7501 miles and then re-register in Kalifornia. Kalifornia will let you register a "used" i. e. 7501 miles. 49 state vehicle in state. Worst case I'll have change drivers license's.

That was my plan.

If anybody knows better Please:confused: let me know

the license is a must do issue... or you'll pay a big fine iff'in they pull you over and they don't match states. . then if a laocal cop see this rig many times he might still pull over. . and give you the 90 days lecture... then either you dual register or else.

Buy used HO outside CA?

Interesting idea.

Buy a non-CA HO with over 7500 miles and register it in CA.

With the smog standards in CA this seems highly unlkely to be acceptable by DMV.

Has anyone here actually done this successfully?

This has been discussed forwards and backwards. I wouldn't take the risk. If you're caught (and they are REALLLLLLLY looking for these now) you, the person who's address you are using, and the dealer can all be fined. This was told to me by an Oregon dealer. As for buying an out of state vehicle, I checked the 2002 CVC book and there is nothing in there to say you can not bring a non CA vehicle into the state so long as it is 6 months old and has 7500 miles on it. It does have to pass smog, but since diesels are exempt, there is no visible rule that would cause a problem.
