OK OK OK, so I have been swearing up and down that this thing will work in a 12v (looks identical, and installs without any trouble) great choice because it is MLS construction. Well... ... ... It does not work. there is a small oil passage (on the pressure side) that pukes oil into one of the water jackets. Nothing like putting your truck back together and running it for like 30 seconds and getting a radiator full of oil and a pan full of water :( needless to say I was ******... ... But at least we all know for FACT that the MLS gasket from a new HO will NOT work, :( I tried to come up with somthing that I thought would be revolutionary to the 12v sceen, but I guess we will have to wait for someone other than cummins to manufacture a MLS gasket for the 12v. Until then, I guess O-rings will have to do. Please spread this info and save others the hassel! I will have a write up on my truck soon including the HO gasket whoes!

Thanks for the info! Remember the results may not always be good when trying something new :-laf . Thanks to this forum we can feed off of eachother's experiments and try new things instead of making the same mistakes ourselves.

Nothing wrong with trying something new but a stock gasket with a single O-Ring in the head is really hard to beat and for 99% of the crowd is can't be beat..... glad I stayed with it.

when i was at the pri show in december, i talked with my salesman from cometic gaskets. they have gaskets for the powerstroke, and duramax. but the problem is the cummins engine is so long that they would have to buy another machine to make longer gaskets. he stated that it is not out of the question. he also stated that they were thinking about doing a 2-pc gasket each one doing 3 cylinders, then overlapping in the middle some how. only time will tell.

I built small engines (3. 0l and under sport compact) that produced upwards of 1600hp in some cases (1600hp in the GM sponsored 6 second cobalt) that only used MLS gaskets. People in the sport compact scene got away from O-rings and copper gaskets almost six years ago for the most part. MLS works wonders when done correctally. It would have been amazing if it had worked!
