I have an 02 2500 with 100 hp injectors, S & B air kit, Quadzilla Adrenaline, Banks High Ram intake, Super B turbo, Air Dog II 150 pump and a few more things. My question is does anyone here have experience with the BD hot rod VP44. I put one on my truck a little over a month ago and it makes the truck fly, but it has a strange idle. Kind of like a gas motor with a big cam, you know a lope sort of. Does anyone know if this is normal? It only does the lopey idle thing when the motor is warm. I would be interested in any and all comments or thoughts on the Hot Rod VP44.

IIRC, that lopey idle is one of the attributes of the hot rod pump. Post up a sound byte, I wanna hear it and see if I should order one. :D

I'll see if I can figure out how to post a what it sounds like. The pump makes the truck run like a top fuel dragster. I just want to make sure I'm not going to hurt the motor with over fueling or something like that.

Between the high pressure and volume of the hot rod pump and your big injectors, the ECM has a hard time keeping the idle speed down to stock specifications. The ECM reduces fuel to one cylinder at a time in an attempt to reduce idle speed, and that gives the lopey idle.

I have a high output pump from Industrial Injection. Mine tends to idle just like the original one but I do recall that rough idle was experienced by quite a few people. My installer quipped that I lucked out & got a smooth one. J Donnelly's post is interesting.

I've heard the same thing, that some people just get lucky and get one that idles smooth like the original. I also heard that you can smooth them out some by going to oversize lines and tubes. Does anyone know if that's true or heard anything about that?
