OKAY BOYS ITS TIME FOR THE REAL QUESTION. SINCE IVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH FOR THE 48RE TO COME OUT IS THE H. O. REALLY WORTH IT? MY MAN SIZE EGO SAYS YES GO WITH THE POWER . BUT I WAS JUST WONDERING HOW YOU ALL FEEL ,BOTH HO AND SO OWNERS... THANKS IN ADVANCE

Cheapest power upgrade you can buy and still keep your 100,000 mile warrantee. Just my two cents Canadian.

i am in full agreement... i can also see myself saying "i wish i would have bought an HO" had i bought an SO but i can never see myself saying "i should have bought an SO"...

Drove all of them, except the 48RE which wasn't there to drive.

Bought the HO.

:D

Any more questions?

How many people have you ever heard complain about having too much horsepower and torque? HO is a pretty good HP and torque jump for not too many bucks when you consider the price of the truck. Would like to know what percentage of CTD's are HO's, bet it is huge and the SO will appear to be outdated as time and the HP and torque wars between the big three continue.

Being that you can now get the auto with a HO it is a no brainer. Get the HO. Bet that they quit selling the SO in a couple years after the auto proves itself. Seems stupid to have two HP ratings for the same engine when there is no trade-offs like with gas engines. ie MPG.

I was told by my dealer just the other day, that the SO engine is being dropped. The only option you will now have is the HO with either the NV5600 or the 48RE transmissions. Makes good sense too me!
