Well, the Jeg's system is installed... . mostly. What a P. I. T. A. !!!!
The installation "instructions", if you can call them that, were typed up by a foreigner with numerous typos and grammar problems. The only picture of the parts layout was so hard to read it was pretty much useless, and none of the hangers were numbered, so I had to guess where they went.
The fit was terrible, and I had to custom bend two of the strap hangers with the hot wrench and a bench vice. Even doing so, I'm not pleased with the hanger fit. I had two extra 24" long pipes left over (why, I don't know, as the instructions said that all pipes were to be used on the QC long-bed trucks). The fit behind the rear axle is the worst part, as there isn't clearance for the angle-cut exhaust tip to clear the leaf spring. Also, the exit point doesn't match the stock exhaust location at all.
I'm going to have to find a muffler shop that has a bender capable of handling 4" pipe and have them bend one of these extra pieces so I can clear the spring and use the polished tip.
Soundwise, the truck is pretty loud, especially under hard acceleration. There is no drone while crusing at highway speeds, but I was unloaded during the test drive. I'm hoping the angled tip will take away some of the rasp of the exhaust note. It's a little louder than I wanted, but maybe I'll get used to it.
Bottom line: I recommend that others avoid this Jeg's brand exhaust system like the plague. I'm sure the domestic-made Hog kits fit much better, but this Philippino-made stuff was terrible. In retrospect, I should have spent the extra $200 and got the Silverline system from Orange County for $599. Being a cheapskate didn't pay off for me in this case; lesson learned.
