Ok, how much difference is there in the performance of the Hog exhaust and the Banks. I know that the Banks replaces the elbow off the turbo and the Hog does not. Is this even something to worry about? Is there any decrease in performance by not having a 4in exhaust from the turbo as opposed to the elbow? Both are of good quality and both seem to have supportors. Just wondering if there is any real difference or just peoples preference's. Thanks Rico

I couldn't tell ya if any HP difference in the two. Banks advertises an 18-22 HP improvement. I think the 4" downpipe allows an easier install of some exhaust brakes (I think). I figure there must be something to the 4" downpipe since the 04. 5's have a 4" system now. Also, the Banks fits like a glove with no hassle and has no drone in the cab. Shop around and you can find a comparable deal on a Banks system to the others. I got mine for less than $70. 00 more than the HOG, MBRP or Jeg's and for me it was worth it plus I'll be putting a little more in my pocket later this week when I get my replacement straight pipe and remove the Banks muffler and just run the Aeroturbine by itself. The Banks muff will be for sale and has less than 1500 miles use on it. Nothing wrong with the Banks muff at all it's just not the sound I'm looking for with the AT.

Joe Donnelly, onone of his replys, said that the stock 3-1/2" system was O. K. as long as you replaced the stock muffler with a "straight through" muffler. There was, however, a limit to how creative you could get with the power increases, using this method. I've been thinking about putting a 24" Magnaflow muffler on my '03. A couple of muffler shops, around here, want about $200 to do it. Hope this is still reliable information.

My hogs exhaust came with the downpipe... I never installed an exhaust before and I got the hogs on in just over an hour. If I can install that anybody should be able to. It fits perfect. . I didn't have to tweek anything to get it to fit. . On a short bed like mine you have to make one cut and that was simple with a sawzall. Long bed requires no cut. Other then that getting the old one off was the hardest part of the whole install. It sounds bad a$$ and I love it.

Hog Exhaust

OK, got my hog exhaust in today and was installed today. Sounds a little louder, not much though in the cab. On take off is where you can hear it and when it shifts into second gear and rpms come down. On the highway, it does not sound much different, like I said a little louder. When it is sitting there idleing, it sounds amazing, a little more athoratative than before. What really got me happy was when I stopped in front of the driveway and let my wife take off in it. The sound is awesome and I could here it a quarter mile down the road. It was not a very loud sound, just deep and about just right. If anyone finds an exhaust that sounds better, then buy it. Makes a huge difference. Only problem with install was that one of the clamps broke and I need to get it replaced. Will call Hog and see how much a replacement is and get it sent out. Can't say enough about the system. The price was right and got the augmentor to boot, total cost plus shipping to my door was 550. Could have gone with banks and I am sure I would have been extremely happy with them also but could not find it for less than 650 out the door. Anyways, this is one happy camper. Rico
