Our Rig!

I had a regular hollan grill and it worked great, only lasted about 3yrs though (completely rusted apart) but it was stored outside. Honestly after all my experiences I'm convinced a grill is a grill (consumer reports said the same thing about 8mos ago) regardless of price. If you don't mind the money i'm sure you'll enjoy it. As another thought, i believe coleman and somebody else make portables also...

takes longer

I have a regular one also. It does a nice job, and seems to work better if you heat it up first. The instructions state that you don't need to turn the meat as often and they are correct. Typical burgers are 12 minutes one side and 8 minutes other side. The big advantage of the grill is no hot spots and even heat. Only disadvantage is time spent, but at least you dont need to be constantly watching stuff or keeping food out of the fireball .

If you like to grill with the hood open don't buy this grill cause the heat goes away quick and takes awhile to come back.

Hope this helps.

Portable grill

Chris,

I've got one of these and love it. www.grill2go.com

They aren't cheap:( Home Depot has them for about $124. I bought mine off the net for almost $200 but got a carring case and the griddle plate for doing bacon and pancakes. :) I take it every time a go camping and even use it at the house when I have a lot of people over. The little grill is awesome, it runs off the 1lb bottles or you can buy and attachment to run it off regular propain bottles. I have a T fitting that I use to run it off my propain on my TT.

My wife got a Stainless Holland grill 4 years ago and she loves it. been the first 4 years out of the last 20 I haven't had to fix, replace or make parts for some brand of junk BBQ. Grill. Pricey (around 750. 00) but if you figure a new $200-$400 grill every 2-3 years plus about $80. in parts every year it is worth it. She uses it year round and cooks EVERY meal in the summer and fall on it. Bakes pies, Everything. I don't know what the burners are made of but I never have had to work on them. . I thought the grates were thin ( SS expanded metal) but I haven't had to touch them either. I've had enamaled / cast iron and everything else rust out on the other kinds of grills. Sets outside on our new vinyl deck all year long. Used to set in yard chained to the redbud tree so the hoodlums wouldn't steal it. Connie spent a long time on deciding to buy this grill-( 3-4 mos. shopping) looked at all of them , but best part is she cooks for me!!:D If it's not stainless don't buy it. She says to figure it bakes like a 400 degree oven. Never used the smoker part. She got a real nice SS smoker that looks kind of like the Brinkman and the nice thing about it is I'm not buying a new one of those every 2 years either. She baked a plum pie for me Monday while I was in Indiana in the grillOo.

Yes, the grill is very nice. As mentioned above, get stainless (if I would have gotten stainless I would still be using it).

ps. . the burner (just 1) is about a 10lb cast iron unit. . it will never rust/deteriorate away ( I think the burner weighs as much as the rest of the grill).

I'm really leaning that way. I want to see one before I buy. The cooking area is about the same as the grill we have at the house. (Then I throw it in the back of the truck and go camping) This grill might just replace the one I have at home too.

If you think the Holland grill is a quality product, check out:

Far superior to the Holland grill. Weighs 29lbs. All stainless steel construction. I have used mine for over a year, no problems. Works in high wind situations. Very heavy duty. Works as advertised. A little more pricey than the Holland. I am sure it will be the last grill I will have to buy. (I am not that old!!).

Only problem is. It is so nice looking when new. You need to get a few scratches and dents on it, so you are comfortable using it.

I have a little Weber also that has a pizo starter on it. It is the only small grill I have been able to find that will not flare up. Love it.

Ok, here is the best way to get a grill.

Take a 40 gal hot water tank cut it about 18' weld a plate on one side cut a door out and weld hinges on it place some 1' angle in side to put the grill on and on top put a 4" pice of exhaust on one side cut a angle to give it some air put a swing arm on the back of your 5th wheel and put the grill on the swing arm and you have a grill that everyone in the park would like to have one.

If you would like to see some photo send me an e-mail and I will send them to you. Joe

After checking out all the BBQ's I could find, I bought this one. MASTERBUILT The reason is it's versatility!. It comes with a grill and a griddle. You can fry bacon, pancakes, french toast, eggs, etc on the griddle. You can also smoke fish or whatever on it. Has a temperature gauge built into the top, you can also use the burner to heat big pots of water or deep fry a turkey! :D :D Oo. Oo. Oo.

If you are a member of CAMPING WORLD, they have them for under $90. 00!

This BBQ does it all. Last time out camping my wife never even used the stove in the travel trailer! She really like it because she didn't have to cook.  That may not be soo good for me!
