Happy Birthday WIREDAWG....

A few people have been asking for my gas turbine pics. It is a Holset HT3B off an old Cummins.

Since the photos were taken I removed the rubber feed hose to the compressor as the boost pressures were blowing it off. I replaced it with a steel elbow. I lengthened the tail pipe by 6" or so and reduced it from a slip on 6" to v-band clamp on 5" with a 4" nozzle. This unfortunately raised my EGTs and produced hot starts eventually melting the tips of the turbine blades and ruining the core. Haven't really messed with it since then as I need a new core (compressor wheel; bolt on, shaft and turbine wheel which is friction welded to shaft).

Please feel free to ask questions.

Open the link and look for gas turbine pics at bottom right.

Also, in my "Other trucks... " album I have a picture of a blue Dodge, if you are the owner and do not want the picture posted I will delete it, just found it online and posted it.

For now all it does is make a lot of noise and burn a lot of propane.

I made it just to see if I could do it. It makes a great bratwurst cooker, cooked one all the way through in about 10 seconds one foot behind nozzle.

Actually, once I buy a new core ($50) and 12 volt the oil sytem my buddy and I are putting it on a go-kart to see what kind of power and speed we will get from it.
