Can someone tell me the differences between the HX-40/40w/40v? Also, where is the housing size indicated? Thanks in advance.

I've tried a couple times... every time I got a message saying that the information I was looking for was unavailable.

Try going to the Holset page (above)

1. ) Click on Products & Technology.
2. ) Click on Current products.
3. ) Click on HX Range

You'll need Adobe Reader to download the spec sheets.

I found them ok. No "Forbidden Access" messages. #ad

HX40 nonwastegated
Hx40W wastegated
HX40V variable

Hx40 is style turbo to find housing size you need the part number

Thanks timd... 3591018 is printed on the box. Hope this doesn't mean an 18cm2. I'm trying verify I got a 16cm2 housing. As far as their web site, I've tried numerous times and I can get everything EXCEPT the product information sheets.

Vaman,

If its any help My HX-40 16cm2 has : 16
E4-01-164 cast into the exhaust housing.

I would call Holset and see how to identify which size exhaust housing is on your turbo. I would like to check mine too.

vaman:

It sounds like a Cummins part number to me.

On turbine housings for the HX35, if you look inside of the split port (where the exhaust enters the turbine housing) look for a stamping in the casting (9, 12, 14, 16, 18, etc) This corresponds to the housing size in cm2. Sometimes the flange is stamped too, look carefully and maybe they are doing the same with the HX-40 & housing.

Good luck.

Andy

Great info Andy.

I just checked my HX-40. It has a 16 stamped inside the exhaust manifold inlet.

vaman,

A number should be stamped inside the engine exhaust inlet. The port closest to the compressor side, just inside the mouth, stamped on the outside wall.
