If Lenny is speaking of his truck it had a modified "sledpuller 66" on it in February when I watched him make 617 hp.

I helped a friend of mine put a 52 on a 01,it spools ALOT quicker than the hx50 it replaced. He hasn't ran it to hard yet,but a 3/4 throtle stand on it in third gear yielded 46#'s!I talked to him yesterday and he said the truck is alot more street friendly with the 52 put the proof will be at the 300' line

Holset is not claiming any horsepower recommendations for the Super 40.

With my Super 40, BD 5s and COMP on 5x3, I have seen a maximum EGT of 1350 degrees with the hot and humid weather we have been seeing here in New England lately.

I have not hooked up the trailer yet but, I believe EGTs will be very controllable with this set up while towing under 10K.

My turbo is technically a 40 and it is my second one. It is a hx-40 with a 14cm hx-35 exhaust housing machined out to clear the 62mm exhaust wheel. The first was the same except 12cm wastegated, worked good until I threw a COMP on it at the dyno. It broke the tires loose on a Mustang dyno in second gear and boost shot up to 47lbs and poof. I guess level 5 was a bit to much with my injectors. Is that the turboes fault? You tell me... . just scared to throw any more fuel at the new one.

Any updates?

Are these new 40s still fragile?

Was Lenny talking about the '52 that made the big HP number?

Just because the wheel on the new 40 can handle 50psi doesn't mean that shaft can!

Who's running a super 40 now?

Justin

IIRC Lenny blew up the Pro52 he tried out. I don't think it lasted too long.

The new 40 from what I was told has the same size shaft as the original.

The Super40 has the same size shaft as a regular HX40. Shaft size WAS not the problem you guys WERE having. You overspeed ANY turbo and it will go "poof" especially if you don't have a good hi-speed balance on it. The Super40 was developed so you guys in the field would not have to mess with it internally and not be able to rebalance at high speed like we do at the plant where it is manufactured.

As for the Pro52, this is not a wastegated turbo and if you don't put an external wastegate in your setup you will grenade it because it spools so fast which it what you guys were asking for from us.

I have not read every post on the pro-52 but as far as I know I am the only one running one on a third gen. No wastegate, but it runs awsome. It is not as fun as the stock turbo but is a lot stronger on top end. When stacked with a downloader it is a little to smokey for around town. When I ran it with the stock third gen manifold I did a 12. 97 with the stock intake and stock exhaust with cat. It usually runs at 50 psi but on cooler mornings it will hit 55 psi. I now have it mounted on a second gen ported ats manifold with a better intake but I have not done any runs to see how it is. Hopefully this weekend i'll get to try it.
