Hanging heavy load on steel stud wall

Todays weather in Prudhoe Bay Alaska...

A crisp -26°F this morning and truck started just fine without being plugged in or even cycling the grid heaters. Of course, a 2 hour preheat with the Espar helped. <WEG> Oil pressure took about 5 seconds or so to register thanks to 5W-40 synthetic.

I have to run heavily blended fuel due to the Espar and sitting outside all night. Additive isn't enough to thaw an 1/8" fuel line to the Espar.

It sounds as though you gelled the fuel. Can you get it inside overnight to thaw? Simply plugging it in doesn't usually help. Watch the winter thaw labled additives. Some use alcohol which can be really hard on the engine.

Wife laughed at me yesterday as I dug out the winter coat. My leather coat just doesn't get me past -10%deg;F

Here in the Columbia River Gorge it is darn cold now. Water frozen in the well house this am, heater on wall failed,Mr Heater to the rescue. New heater and thawed and water, never take water for granted, I don't, as I've hauled it. Doors froze shut on Ram but got open, cycled twice and lit. No plug where it was, now in shop nice and cozy. Got some summer chores to attend to now that the cold wind (50mph@15degrees) has gotten my attention!! Tim

The truck would crank and POP sometimes but not enough to take off and run. Thought about gelling too, but I drained the fuel filter and unscrewed the top then poured in some Powerservice in and refilled the can, still no go. So I called my girlfriend and she picked me up and we went to the store and I bought and extension cord (50 ft. ). Ran the cord from my upstairs apartment to the truck for about two hours. She started right up, ran her around town and on the highway getting her nice and warm. Going to leave her plugged in all night, suppose to reach -15 tonight.

22 below zero here at 5:30 AM. I am going into my third week of not going out of the house except to feed the horses. First snow and now cold. AAARRRGGG.

Supposed to warm into the 30's tommorrow. Maybe I will go to Cody and buy a quart of milk.

You can have that negative stuff. It was 4 degrees on my ozark mountain this morning and 0 in the holler by the creek. I think the guy that invented the stock tank heater deserves a bonus and my horses and mules agree.

Truck showed 10 when I fired it up this morning, unplugged. Poor thing, let the grid heaters cycle twice and she just rolled over nice and slow and then bamm! Compression!

I gotta say 10 degrees aint that cold but just moving from Colorado to Northern KY the cold hurts more out here, humidity sucks!

Yeah Baby!

New Batteries Are Cool!!!!!! 10* this morning, and it spun like a top! Lit right up, but idles a bit rough for about 30 seconds. This probably the lowest temps here this winter, been nice. :D

It might have been gell. Filling the filter does nothing for a pump that is glued up with wax. Running the block heater does get enough heat out to the pump for a thaw.

Local welding/repair shop has a similar starting trouble with their 01 truck. They've got a lot of diesel equipement so should be blending fuel on everything. I suspect grid heaters there.

Let it snow!

It's still cold here and the snow is still falling! It's warmed up to +12. Gotten about 6-8" snow since yesterday morning for a total of about 16-18". I added a couple pics to my 2003 Ram Album in Readers' Rigs (click link to left).

here in chicago its very cold. i fired up my truck this morning at 9 degrees truck started up and jumped to 1000 rpm. I let it warm up for 15 minutes. Had heat and everything :)

cooold here too

Well on this side of the state we got down to +11. I know that does not sound like much but I just felt like staying next to the fireplace all day. We are getting freezing rain here now hope it is not headed your way Vaugn.

I wish you guys would quit your whining. It's been (literally) freezing here in Tucson. We even had some frozen water pipes to some of the homes in the community, since they don't protect them from freezing here. Even saw a dusting of the white stuff in the mountains.

This is from my father-in-law in Fairbanks:

Yesterday AZ Highways came . Thanks. The photos are outstanding, and the stuff I have read so far is most interesting.

We are having some rather unusually windy conditions right now. 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 40. Here. In Fairbamks, in the windless Interior. What a let-down , they promised temps in the -25 to -40 range, but it is only around 0 to -10 or so. What a dissapointmment. Looks like we won't get any real winter this year, except for a couple feet of snow, but what good is that when it's too warm to play outside comfortably?

I'm trying to figure out a time to come and check out Tucson. I'll be sure to warn you in plenty of time when I decide.
