Thinking about adjusting/ checking the timing on my truck. Looked at snap on and the want almost $1,000 for the timing kit.

CUMDS12V, Set, Cummins Diesel Service, B and C Series, 12-valve

I dont need any of the "normal tools" I even got the barring tool. I just need the gear puller and dial gauge with the pump adapter.

Anyone got individual part numbers or even better anyone in my area got the setup and wants to spend a few hours with a new bestfriend?;)

The dial indicator says for upto 94 dodge and I dont see the puller listed

you do NOT need that whole set just to check and set the timing on a 12V... . Snap on SP500 is all you need, thats the one that I bought. It still came in a little pricey at $357 to my door but its a heck of a lot better than $1000... .

Kit sells for 245. 80 US

Individual parts are:
Delivery valve socket - SP503 - $43
Gear puller - SP 504 - $34
Dial indicator -SP5001 - $215. 15
gauge holder -SP5002 - $27. 50

Thats the one. All i gotta do is track down my old snap on friend and I can save the shipping.

Thanks alot

ken

Thanks for looking, I really do appreciate it, but I will go with the snap on. I know from them I will be getting a quality accurate piece

Yeah, TTC (aka, Travers tool co. )

They used to sell quality stuff but now its all imported china junk, same with Enco. I dont mind spending the extra coin for a German , Swiss or US made tools. Nothing at Harbor Freight !

I have the miller tool timing set which appears to come with the exact same dial indicator as the snap on . It's a 30. 0 mm Central tool that is made in the USA. I was curious and looked around seeing that the dial indicator is the majority of the price and found the same gauge except with a mounting lug style back plate for $82 at Toolsource.com.
