Attention: TDR Forum Junkies I just returned from maui. I saw some sweet CTD there. Diesel costs 2 cents more than premium where I looked. 2. 179 for diesel. You think you got it bad. Premium was 2. 159. Its 1. 479 here right now up from 1. 369 three weeks ago. I felt like preaching to all of em about the mileage gained from uprates.
I rode on a cummins equiped double hull that sat about 150 people and that thing would do 32 knots. At 27 knots with no wind the engine was spinning about 2100 rpm. They ran it on half diesel and half french fry grease. I spoke at length to the captain and he said it improved efficiency by about 20 percent. Thats a big gain. He said the grease costs twice as much as diesel but it almost broke even due to the effieciency of the greasel. They would run completely on grease if the supply were there(bunny lovers). The delivery truck didnt have the capacity. I neglected to ask the displacement but I know it was huge.
