When I leave for work at 4:30 am in the country, high beams are a bit of a neccessity. Unfortunately, lately, many times when I hit the switch to turn the high beams off for oncoming traffic, my lowbeams go off too! That will wake you up quick! Plus I look like a retard to the oncoming traffic flicking my high/low switch to get my low beams to come back on. Has anyone else had this problem and what was it? I'm hoping a cheap relay and not an expensive dealer supplied switch!

been there ..... and yes,... it is not fun driving like that... ... replace the hi-low beam & turn switch, $65. 00

warring... ... you will need a torx bit with the whole in the center..... not sure what they are called :-laf

Rather than buying a torx bit, didn't know where to get one on short notice anyway, I carefully drilled the center pin out enough to get a bite with a regular torx. Then just went to the hardware store and bought new bolts.

Mine does the exact same thing. At first I thought it was the bright box from Geno's but after playing with the switch if I pull it back a bit harder it will switch every time. But I forget about it and then no lights.

Thanks for the replies! $65 for a new one is not nearly as much as I thought it would be. I think I'll try tugging a little harder on it as Billvo mentioned. I've got to tear into the steering column anyway (see my next post in this forum) so maybe I will replace the switch.

some of those tamper proof torx screws are so soft that with a standard torx driver and a few light taps of a hammer on the butt of the driver, it flattens out the center pin and you can remove them easily.
