Has anyone built a "Stealthbox"-like sub-enclosure for the center seat? Seems like it shouldn't be that hard, and JL Audio's price is a bit rich for my taste. Looks like it would be possible to cut/modify foam and support mechanisms, and fit a sealed box for a 10" or so. Still researching components, looking for experiences/opinions.

I dunno. The JL in my truck was worth every penny. Sized right , dense MDF/Resin combo the quality is all there. Now the hearing is believing. I have been told on numerous occasions that My single 12 hits harder than the dual 10" boxes that fit under the rear seat. Its just a stealthbox with a Rockford Fozgate 300. A2 (In Mono mode).

I know for a fact that someone has posted of a box that they made themselves for the center seat location. He use a Kicker Solo-baric 12" if I remember correctly. I too am considering making a box for the center seat but am trying to figure out a way to move the factory mounts so I can wedge a 15" in there. I am thinking that this would go well with the four 10's in the back.

I found a guy making some boxes to replace the bottom of the middle seat. The are not a "stealth" as the JL boxes but they are a fraction of the cost. The mount in the same way at the JL box, just remove the center seat and bolt in place using the same bolt holes.

If I remember right the cost for the box was around $150 and that included matching upolstery. If you could settle for a standard color (like dark grey or black) the cost was around $100. Obviously these prices do not included a speaker. You would have to provide that.

If you would like additional info just let me know and I will will dig through some old emails to find the rest of the info.

Attached is a pic of the box installed.

I agree, I think the stealth boxes are kinda pricey. I ended having a custom fiberglass box made underneath the backseats, it's a real clean job, and sounds very good.

That was me but I used a 8" solo baric. Here is the post. I could have easily fit a 12" if I had ditched the factory seat frame and foam but decided I wanted my center seat functional and as comfortable as stock.

Hmm, a 15" in there, I can see it being done but your right in having to move the factory mounts. Since these are welded on you would either have to remove the front seat mounting frames so you can get them off and reposition them or cut them off flush and make some new ones. I think a solo-baric would be too tight a fit but a round speaker should give you the extra clearance needed. You will also have to make most of it out of fiberglass and will probably have to make the form out of 1/4" wire mesh in order for it to be strong enough.
