Fuel brands and mileage

Good thread over at dieselstop

Just got back from my trip out to Morgan Hill, CA ( near San Jose) and back. Have to say the mileage kinda sucked and the fuel prices were way outta whack. I pulled out a 10' cargo trailer with 7' sides, realized when I got to Wendover,UT that those sides were killing my mileage! (went out empty) so I took em down and got around 19 mpg the rest of the way out.

Heres the stats of the trip:

2751 miles driven

218 gallons of #2 burned

Average MPG is 12. 61 :( :(

Coming home the trailer was loaded up and probably weighed in around 2,500 lbs. I set the cruise at 75 mph and ran it that way the whole trip. We did have a tarp over the top that acted like a parachute most of the way, but needed it to protect our stuff from the elements.

Have to say coming over Donner Pass was really fun on the way home, 75-80 mph the whole way up with lots of throttle to spare. I was passing everything on the road and at one point an older Porsche 911T. It was a good time!! Got lots of looks climbing the hills!!

Overall the trip was good, no problems but sure wish the mileage was better though!

Welcome back. I trust you were able to cure all the little weird problems (low boost, EGT's) before you left.

How were your EGT's on the passes?

Thanks Sticks, yep problem cured. It was a leaky intake gasket!! Over Donner pass with just injectors I held about 1100 degrees with 28-30psi.
