I just talked with a friend that has an 01 2500 dodge diesel. He ask me if I started to use home heating fuel in my truck yet,I said no way. He said that he has been putting it in his trucks for 7 years. Can I use heating fuel instead of diesel fuel.

And they won't let you off with a warning, they invoke the full fine the first time you get caught. Also, it doesn't rinse out with a fresh batch of the normal stuff. It will taint your fuel tank for a very long time.

P Dog you going to PDR 09-27-03. We are all meeting at wellers cafe at 6am,it's I5 north to exit # 208 and take a right you will see it.

I have 100K miles on my 98 and I dont see any ill effects yet.

I just use a good amount of conditioner in it.

Filled up the 550 gal tank last week for only $102. 9 a gal. :D

Eric

I suppose if the government wanted to save on enforcement (and get better enforcement) of their rules, they would "cut you in" for a worthwhile percentage of the fine. Then your "friend" burning the illegal fuel could help pay for quite a few tanks of legal fuel for yourself, rather than encouraging you to do the same kind of thing to save a few bucks.

The "Patriot" is a tax cheat. Sorry no other words for it. Evading taxes is just not right for the rest of us. (Don't worry, I won't turn you in, but there may be somebody some day who will. ) I wouldn't **** anybody off, and I think you're a fool to advertise on the internet that you that you are more of a traitor.

Of course it's just my opinion. (fireproof suit now in place)

Damn Bighammer, I think you were a littlle hard on the Patriot. I don't have a problem with that since I feel that the price of fuel is insane anyway and it's all about taxes. You're right though this is no place to advertise. Just my 2 penny's worth.

Jim

Hey Bighammer stop sugar coating your reply and tell the man how you really feel. My own opinion we are all taxed way to much and anytime a guy can get a break he has more than payed for it . My father worked for an asphalt company for thirty years , from 1985 until he retired in 1995 he had deisel trucks and not once did he buy a tank of taxed fuel, he would fill at work (with their permission of course). Did this make him a bad person NO, just a man trying to get by.

Guilty as charged. No offense taken.

It's your life, you play you takes your chances. It's still somewhat a free country. This is my choice. :D If I get caught, I'll pay. Where I live I'd have a better chance of hitting the lottery. :D

I carry more than my burden of taxes otherwise.

Eric

PS bh if youre free of flaws, I'd be honored if you wrote the ticket. :D

I agree with Patriot, try living in Kalifornia.

They double electric rates, then water, and natural gas. Now the DMV rate also tripled. I say when "they" start spending wisely, and not making "me" pay for their mistakes. Then I'd feel compelled to pay ALL the taxes and "fees"!!!!

DONT WORRY

I used to drive tanker the fuel is the same

except the dye. it is injected right as it is loaded

on the truck... .

as far as the road tax,as long as your not a logger or some

big-deal for them don't sweat it

There is no ill effects to using heating fuel or off road diesel fuel in your truck. There are laws thou against such acts. You are not paying road use tax, which is a federal offense. I run a external fuel tank in my truck, and I use to be in the construction field. I had access to off road fuel 90 % of the time. I learned very early that a few dollars was not worth the risk. I have been stopped over a dozen times, by the vehicle police. In my company truck, they would check the 100 gal tank I had on board, it always contained off road fuel, which was OK. But I had better not have any in my truck, and yes they checked. My truck also has an external tank, and I have been checked in that too, twice. I do know of some farmers who get away with it, but thats there business. Guys that deliver home heating oil are instructed to look for violators, they can even get a reward, just like people that see someone working on ac equipment, it is a federal offense. Maybe they are not so determined to enforce this were you live? But i'll just pay like everyone else does, at the pump, and not worry about it.

Of course I'm not free of flaws. I will never claim to be and there is no halo that fits my head. :D I also feel like we do pay an awful lot in taxation, but I don't cheat to try and pay less. I know there are many that do. I don't feel that it's right to encourage others to skirt the laws of the land. I don't always agree with the speed limits and I do speed if I'm in a hurry. I don't try to tell somebody else they should too. If I'm in a jam up and turn around in the median, I bear the risk for my actions, but wouldn't ask others to do the same.

I'm also not a snitch and wouldn't take pleasure in turning somebody in. There are a lot of those kind too. I don't think it's a good idea to let others know of your fueling habits because there are all kinds that read this. Might as well stand a park bench in a crowd and yell it to all that will listen. I see the internet as puplic a place if not more.

I've also been homeless and broke so I know what it is to try to make every penny count. I lived in my car, a crappy old camper I got for nothing (big step up;) ) and with friends. I know that the tax laws seem to favor the rich while the hard working poor bear an unfair burden. I wouldn't think badly of anyone who really had to save money this way, but in this kind of forum, the advice seems seems like it would be taken and used another way.

Patriot, I don't know you and it wasn't right for me to jump to conclusions. As long as you are well aware of the penalty it's really your call. I personally wouldn't do it and thumb my nose at the rest of us who do pay taxes with pictures of my home, trucks, (one with license plate) etc. , on the same website.

But who knows, your chances of winning the lottery may be better now too.

I agree with Bighammer in that we all have to pay our fair share. Not paying taxes just makes it more of a burden for those of us who do. The country isn't perfect, but I can't come up with anywhere else that I'd rather live:) .

Dean

What are you saying there Dean that the fuel tax is going up for all of us because someone isn't paying his share??? I don't think so. If he feels comfortable with what he's doing more power to him. "A PENNY SAVED IS A PENNY EARNED"

I didn't say that, Jim. All I am saying that if everyone pays his fair share it's easier on all of us. To use another example, how do you feel about someone not paying his income or property taxes and you do? They ride on the same roads, go to the same schools and enjoy all the other benefits that the people that pay their taxes do.

Dean

The only way I would put that crud in my truck is if I was taking a vacation during a nuclear winter and that was the last drops of fuel I could find.

Most the time the fuel is stale contaminated by rusty tanks full of condensation none of which I want in a 3rd Gen engine not even a 1st Gen. You will probably spend more on repairs than the 300 or so bucks in tax you will save in a year.

I know the farmers up north do it but I bet you dramatically increase your chance of fuel system contamination.

Penny wise pound foolish but I guess every man chooses his battles?

Choose carefully;)
