guys, you gotta be really careful about pumping outta your home heating tank. some places send out "dump diesel" for HHO. dump diesel is the worst. It is the throw away stuff, the stuff that gets collected by distributors at shops, diesel that is partly contaminated with gas, etc. I had some dump diesel (so i believe... ) and it was explosive, caught fire very aggressively and caused a lot of knocking one one of my tractors... (poor little 3-cyl engine). I also used it to start bonfires. . I never saw diesel catch so quickly... Be careful, you might save at the pump, but wear out an expensive engine !

With that said, I won't do it, not even for my tractors anymore...

p. s. I think dump diesel was talked about in Q2 TDR issue of this year...

I've been running hho for over 10 years now, never a problem in fact better than pump at station. Be care ful with #1 it is a kero mix some places do as much as 40%. Biggest problem is kero is a natural detergent and diesel or hho is a lubricant. So running the kero mix is going to strip all your lubrication in your fuel system(PUMP). As for the guy with the dump diesel

i've been in the oil business for over 20 years and never heard of it. I think you were the victim of a delivery of kero by mistake. as far as off road diesel, red is off, green is on, hho shouldn't be dyed, in fact if you look at your delivery ticket it will tell you non-dyed, penalty for dyed use.

you can buy the dye and add it to you tank before the delivery so as to mix it up good. FPPF has a product called total power I add a qt every delivery to a 275 tank like i said never a problem.

They allowed us to run off road fuel in SC and GA after Katrina caused a shortage. I had enough off road fuel to hold me till the price came back down. I couldn't tell any differance other than exhaust smell. With taxed diesel now running $2. 32-$2. 38 gal. arround here it's not worth the risk.

bferrara, I've never really looked--are you saying highway diesel is dyed green while home heating oil is clear (or near clear)?

it used to be dyed blue but now is non-dyed, every state might be different but check it out. When your at the pump after your done filling have a cup with you and let the nozzle drain those last 2 ounces into the cup. Then do the same with your next delivery at home and then start a search for the correct dye
