Would suggest hose clamps on the push on fittings for additional security.

pushloc fittings cannot have hose clamps installed, the clamps will cause the barbs of the fitting to cut the hose.

the barbs on the pushloc fittings are 2-3x the size of a barbed fitting that you use clamps.

I have a few pushlocs in my onboard air system @ 150 psi and they are holding fine

Crossing the number to the Wix 51704 shows the wix nominal micron rating to be 25, the setup looks very nice but I would look for a filter with a better micron rating.

Unless I missed it, where on the block did you tap into to get the by-pass filter supply?

Thanks

Ps some day I will have to update my profile to the 2005 truck

Would you, please, expand on how you removed the expansion plug? That's the part I can't figure out & am worried about.

Thanks.

Joe:

When I was researching (in the WAY BACK machine)...

I saw some of them drilled a 1/8" hole (with grease), inserted a screw into the hole, and then levered it out.

I also saw where they carefully tapped it cock-eyed into the hole then ripped it out with channel locks...

Neither is very appealing... might look into the fitting that returns to the oil drain plug... I know they make one for a DMax...

I would be a bit concerned about not having enough restriction in the bypass to keep the rest of the system protected. Cummins is very serious about this aspect, have an engine failure they will bow out.

If you plan on running the engine forever go with a bypass but most of us will never put enough miles on it for the benefit to out weigh the risk.

I have customers with over 500k that do nothing but the minimum required services and they are working great. Just my opinion... .....

That is a good point, thanks for that perspective. To add to it, my last truck with 410K on it never had a bypass and had oil analysis results coming back saying things are still looking good. I think by the time 500K hits I'll really be ready for a new truck again.

Steved,

Thanks for your reply.

I have an Oilguard System (which I have not installed, yet) & it comes with a very nice, billet aluminum, replacement oil-fill cap which also acts as the return form the bypass filter.

I kind of like the drain into the plug on the side of the block. A lot less hose in the engine bay.
