Got the truck, now which slide-in?

Dodge Lowering Kit

I was asking my dealer about the engine construction of these and they don't seem to know. The brochure doesn't say. Anyone know about;

-the cylinder liner

-bearing construction

-valve seat-etc

Has anyone run one to some high hours? They keep pushing quiet but I'm interested in some life too. I see Yahama's equivalent 2000 has an iron cylinder liner.

I understand that the Honda is an overhead cam and suspect a belt drive. Would appreciate any info

Thanks

David

I've got one of these... . it's REAL quiet.

Someone on iRV2.com posted he had over 500 trouble free hours on his- that's a LOT of camping time.

I think I read somewhere that it does have an iron liner, it's overhead valve (no belt) and it's got ball bearings in the bottom end.

I have a Honda 2000 eu . I think it's the greatest thing since

sliced bread. The 2000 will allow me to run the micro

wave or the coffee maker. The best price I found was,

Mayberry Sales,1-800-696-1745. I think their current price

is $ 859. Shipping is free. I don't think there's any sales tax.

I bought mine last year when they had it on sale,so I got

it a little cheaper.

Sorry, I can't answer your question but I would like to endorse Mayberrys. I had my doubts about the 2000EU's capability to run an airconditioner and other high start up loads. Don Jr. was very helpful, knowledgeable and was willing to take it back plus pay for all the shipping if it failed to meet my requirements. Needless to say, it did everything he said it would and I'm very pleased with it.

It isn't often these days you find a dealer like that. Two thumbs up for Mayberrys!

I have an older Honda EX-1000 that we use RVing - it will run everything but our A/C... Was camped next to a fella with the 2000, REALLY was quiet, but when we tried it on our rig, it wouldn't start our A/C, so was no practical advantage over our older setup - we run our microwave and various smaller stuff quite well with the older EX-1000... The EU-2000 sure is light and quiet tho'...

If I could sell my 1000 for a decent price, I'd be tempted to do so, and pay the difference for the newer 2000... ;)

Generator

I ditto what everyone else said. Great generator.

One can also run another 2000 in parallel, thus giving you 4000 watts. The cords to do this is not very pricey.

I have an EU-2000 from Mayberries also. Great generator and dealer. In spite of that, I still want one of those Cummins Microquiet 3000-LP built-in RV generators in my 5er so I can have it all.

My EU2000 will run a 13500 Dometic AC and has a little throttle left. I tried it on my friends 13500 Coleman AC and it tripped out. I have tried it on two different 13500 Dometic AC's and it would run either.

Honda EU1000i...

1950 hours of run time. Starting to use oil and have to add oil every 50 hours. Oil changed every 200 hours. Wonder how many more hours before rebuild?

I suspect the 2000 WOULD run the A/C *if* that was ALL that was attached - but in normal connection, the RV circuitry also is powering the built-in inverter and perhaps a few small additional items as well - that can easily be enough to put current draw over the edge for the 2000...

I have two EU 2000i's. I usually run one, but I can hook them together with the parallel cables for a combined 3200 watts rated (4000 watts max) I got these generators instead of an Onan because I could use them away from the 5th wheel on other projects and both of them were cheaper than the Onan. They are small enough to fit both in my box in the truck bed. I bought my from Mayberry. Good price and great folks to deal with.

I would not reccomend running an AC on a single EU2000. Even if it would start it and run, you're gonna end up buring the compressor or genset up. It is simply not designed for it.

It sounds like we have a lot of mixed opinions on wether or not this generator will run a roof air. I have a 1000eu and a 3000eu. The 2000eu seems like such a great size to carry. I really want one for use with my slide in camper and I would then leave the 3000eu in the fifth wheel. I hope this thread continues for a while and I can get more data on the subject.

Happy Holidays

My 2000EU seems to run my 13500 Brisk Air just fine. After a few minutes I switch to "Eco" and the genset slows down. This indicates to me that I'm running at less than full power. Don't know about other folk, but that's all I wanted in a unit.

Dkevdog,

These new smaller generators are really great. They also DO NOT have a generator or a genset. the EU2000 Honda is an invertor generator. There are no belts it uses a direct drive to the AC alternater, this in turn is converted thru a AC-DC inverter to the AC current to power the Air Conditioner or any other AC powered device. There is no problem in running any air that the generator can start. The inverter can not be burned up by overloading it, it simply will shut down and not run any load that is too big. These are great little generators, mine will power my air cond all day and has done so on many occasions. Over 2000 hrs to date and almost all of those hours where with the air cond running.

I have a question to you guys that have talked about the number of hours on your Honda EU's. HOW do you know how many hours you have on them?????

I personally have a log for my eu2000, and log every hour that it runs. This log is also used for all maintenance. I have the same type of log for the Ram, it's the only way i can keep up.
