Got the truck, now which slide-in?

Gunny, what is the labeled current draw on the A/C you run with your 2000 - and do you run it isolated from other circuits in order to keep within the honda's ratings?

Gary,

I have two RV's one is a 34 ft Cedar Creek 5er and the other is a Bigfoot 10'6" slide in camper for my dually. I use to have a signature that said all of that but somewhere down the road I seem to have lost that signature thing. I have a built in Onan Gen. for the 5er and for the slide in I was going to do the same, have a small Onan installed in the slide in, it is generator ready. I found out that almost all of the small generators for the slide in campers use the Inverter Technology. That is NO gen-set. As I shoped around I discovered the eu2000 and learned that this is a pretty good little generator. The air-cond on my slide-in is a 7,500 BTU air unit and not the more common 13,500 on most RV's. Hell with this small air-cond on this slide-in you can hang meat in there after about 20 min so it is plenty big enough. But when i use it I plug it directly into the power cord, I do not isolate that circuit. the eu2000 will run everything on the camper very well. My wife use's her curling iron and hair dryer with the air on with no problems. This little generator fits my needs very well.

If anyone is interested, I contacted Mayberrys about the inverter generators. They have an internet special that ends 1/15 that seems pretty good. They all include free shipping and are all in stock. The EU1000i is $629, the EU2000i is $859 and the EU3000i is $1575. I checked with my local Honda power equipment dealer for the 2000 watt generator and he wants $1,079. 99 which does not include tax. There is no tax from Mayberrys and they have (ending 1/15) a 6 months same as cash incentive.

I looked up the spec's on my Duo-Therm 15,000 BTU roof air conditioner and they recommend a minimum generator size of 3,500 watts. I think two of the 2000 watt generators is the best way to go since they are portable - 48 lbs each.

Hours...

My Honda EU1000i now has 2400 hours. Have to add oil every 5-10 hours of operation. Generator engine is only rated for 1000 hours. Rebuild NOT available. Have to replace engine which is currently NOT available.

Hi guys!

My new '03 on the way!

Anyway, how can you run these generators in prrallel for a 60hz load? How would the cycles link? (Can't think of the right word!!!!) Like getting a twin engine boat to keep both engines at same rpm, but in this case the ac cycles.

My understanding is that the 2nd one started / plugged in, automatically syncs to the 1st.

I only recently tried mine with my Dometic 13,500 AC- it ran it fine, at least at sea level. The voltmeter stayed steady at 110-120V. I WAS surprised. Anybody try these at any altitude?

Frank

the inverter circuitry handles it (do NOT try this on a regular genset... sparks and smoke!). Plug the 2 together and they sync automatically.

The Honda EU series uses inverter technology to generate 120 vac 60 Hz. A cable conects the two generators together, and the electronics syncs the inverters together.

Another explanation is "smoke and mirrors".

Go to this link http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/eu2000.htm and look under Features and Benefits, Parallel Operation Capability.

I would say it most likely would. I hooked my 1000 eu to a friends 1000 eu and it ran my dometic 13,500. I'm ready to buy a 2000 eu. I own a 1000 eu and a 3000 eu. The 2000 eu is just such a great size.
